Michiel is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, a registered patent attorney, and a registered pharmacist. He holds degrees in Pharmacy (B.Pharm, M.Sc Pharm) and Law (LLB), and is a member of the South African Licensing Executive Society.
Before joining Hahn & Hahn Inc. in 2012, Michiel worked as a Research and Development pharmacist for a leading multinational pharmaceutical company, where he gained significant experience in oral dosage formulation and pharmaceutical process development.
At Hahn & Hahn, Michiel advises on all aspects of intellectual property law, with a strong focus on patent litigation and the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in foreign jurisdictions. He manages the firm’s Foreign Renewals Department and oversees the day-to-day operations of the PCT National Phase Filing department.
Michiel’s dual qualification in pharmacy and law uniquely equips him to assist clients in the pharmaceutical and broader health sectors, particularly in matters involving regulatory compliance and the protection of intellectual property.
